Directories & Kevin Smith

So my last (and first) post was followed by a three-day get away to Lake Anna followed by one of the nastier bugs I've dealt with in a while.  Sore throat, swollen glands, fatigue & fever that lasted for 4 days.  This coincided with 5 straight days of downpour in NoVa, with flash floods & general ooginess.

The weather & I recovered just in time for my wedding anniversary, which for better or worse is 9/11. K & I headed to a B&B for two days of relaxation in Harrisonburg.  One day in we realized it takes exactly one day to see pretty much everything there and decided to come home early.  Felt no regrets waking up in my king sized tempur-pedic.

Oh, I guess I should say something about writing...this week has involved more editing than anything as I try to prep the editorial section of the chamber directory.  It's been a convoluted process this year, where the publisher did not allow the writer to talk to us, but then took it upon themselves to do edits without our seeing it, and also without knowing our community.  It's kind of like when you make a copy of a copy of a key-- it's the right shape, but it won't open the door unless you giggle it awhile.  Doing a lot of giggling the past few days.

I'm also using the word "editing" lightly.  I've been removing "facts" like the Civil War starting in Manassas.  It was the first year working with this company, and things were a little rushed given the merger and all...I'm sure next year will go more smoothly.  With that, I'll end my written complaints about that writing project.

Off to watch Red State, odd to watch a serious movie by Kevin Smith.  Ok, minus Chasing Amy, that was pretty darned serious.  Every time I respond to a text or call quickly, or am responded to quickly, I have Joey Adams in my head, "15 seconds, you are such my b**ch."  Love it.  Think this movie will have fewer moments of levity and more of me covering my eyes...
